There are different kind of airplane or aircraft containers for the air freight or air cargo of goods. These airplane containers also called ULD (Unit Load Device) are designed specific to the location on the airplane. A lower deck airplane container has a different design than a upper deck container. Also the type of airplane determines the design of the airplane container. Airplane containers are being used on special cargo airplanes as on passager airplanes on which the containers are being placed in the lower deck of the airplane.

On the right you can find some of the standard airplane containers which are also aproved by the IATA (International Air Transport Association). Next to these standard airplane containers some forwarders or air freighters are using their own specific airplane containers designed to their specific whiches.

The airplane containers are only used for the transport of individual boxes. Boxes packed on pallets can not be transported in the airplane containers and are being transported on special airplane pallets.

one-way use insulation for airplane containers

It is also possible to use the airplane containers to ship conditioned goods such as pharmaceuticals or perishables, yet therefore the container needs to be insulated or the sender can use insulated boxes. If the airplane container can be filled with goods which require the same temperature range, the container can be insulated in total. Herefore the Temax insulation can be used. To do so, the Temax insulation will be produced with dubbel sited tapes so the insulation can easaly be taped against the inside walls of the airplane container. Also the door opening can be insulated with the Temax insulation which is also being taped against the side of the container. Very important is to close the insulation on the edges and sides so all possible cold bridges are closed and seald. After the container reaches the desitiation, the insulation can easaly be removed. The Temax is 100% recycleble so the insulation requires no special waste management.

Re-usable or multiple use insulation for airplane containers

The Temax insulation can also be produced with strong outer en inner foils so it becomes re-usable. The insulation will be tailor made to the dimensions and design of the airplane container. To use the insulation, it needs to be hung up on the inside of the airplane container with a folding door which is being closed with a velcro closure. A disadvantage of a multiple use insulation is the return shipment and location so a track & trace system could be adviseble. Therefore we can produce the insulation with unique numbers or barcodes to make tracking possible.
