Usage of thermal thermo covers for barrels

To transport liquids or fluids, all kind of barrels are used to keep te liquid contained. When temperature sensitive liquids or fluids are transported the barrel can be insulated with an insulation material to protect the liquids against unwanted external temperatures. The insulation is than functioning as a passive cooling. The insulation material can be tailor made according to the size of the barrel. Temax insulation can be produced as a single use or multiple use insulated cover according to the required temperatures, models, dimensions etc... (Insulation quality, see page: Temax insulation

One-way-use insulated covers

Re-usable insulated covers

.
Single use or multiple use insulated covers or thermo covers

The choice between single use or multiple use insulation covers or thermo covers is depending on the transport system and the possibility to organise a return flow from the receiver back to the sender. If such a return flow is not possible or expensive, a single use or one-way-use insulated cover or thermo cover could be used, yet on a one-way use packaging the ecological footprint becomes very important.

.
Test result: warm liquid protection against freezing temperatures

In the test graphic below a temperature flow is shown of a barrel with liquids (250 liter) placed in a freezing condition (-20°C). The lowest temperature limit for this test was +5°C. The barrel was insulated with the Temax insulation Temax4000 (thickness 4cm) one-way-use insulation material. In the test, two temperature readers where placed. One reader was placed between the insulation and the barrel, reading the air temperature surrounding the barrel (blue line) and one reader was placed inside the liquid (purple line). The graphic shows that the air, surrounding the barrel, was lowered to +5°C after 30 hours.
