| What
is a cros-dock packaging? |
|

|
'Cross
docking' is a term used in the world of
logistics and transport indicating
that certain goods are not repacked
in the transport flow or chain from the
starting point to the end user. With other
words; if a package, pallet or roller
container is being send from point A to B
through the warehouse of multiple
transporters or haulers and the package is
not being repacked or readdressed, it is
undergoing a cross docking formula. |
|
|
In
this formula Krautz developed a special
insulated packaging system for cross
docking for a French supermarket chain. In
this formula the package is being prepared
and filled by the producer with chilled or
frozen food, addressed and shipped of to
the logistic centre of the supermarket
chain. They just take the package and
place it on the roller container with
other goods for a specific supermarket
store. At the store the package is emptied
so it can be returned to the producer.

| Usage
and build-up |
|
The
cross dock insulated package is mostly used for
the packaging of smaller transports in which the
insulated package is tailor made according to
the usage or desires of the customer. The
package is produced out of a special insulation
foil and a strong water resistant outer and
inner foils. Further the package is enclosed
in an aluminium construction to protect the
goods in transport. Grips on the package make it
easier to handle.

Ice-packs chilled / frozen elements |
|
Sometimes
it can be necessary to enclose extra
chilled or frozen elements to maintain the
temperature for a longer time. Therefore
the insulated package is foreseen with a
special aluminium storage room for these
element.

Long
duration of life
|
|
The
thermo covers are made out of strong
yet light weight materials so they
can provide a long duration of life.
Supermarkets and transport companies
who are using the thermo covers experience
a lifetime between 3 and 5
years.

Water
resistant and cleanable
|
|
The
used foils in the thermo covers are
water resistant so they can be
easily cleaned which is important
for the hygiene when the cover is
used for food or pharmaceutical
goods.

Track and
trace
|
|
If
the cover is used for one way or re-usable purposes the cover can be
provided with several tracking and
tracing systems as unique numbers,
barcode or RFID technologies. Krautz
develops tailor made software solutions
for tracking and tracing
systems. See page : Track
