Insulated covers are covers which are foreseen with a certain insulation quality (see page Insulation) and are used to protect temperature sensitive goods against external temperatures. This means that the goal of insulated covers is to keep the own temperature of the temperature sensitive goods or conditioned goods as long as possible without an active cooling. The time that the temperature can be kept is depending on a number of variables as the starting temperature of the conditioned goods, the temperature of the environment, the mass of the goods, the warmt coëfficient of the goods, the time of the protection, the air volume between the goods, etc... These variables make is almost impossible to predict or to calculate the time of the temperature preservation.

Insulated covers are being used in the transport and distribution in which the insulated covers are pulled over a pallet or roller container on which the conditioned goods as fresh foods or frozen foods but also exotic goods as bananas for example are loaded. The purpose is to make combined transports of goods with different temperatures possible. If you have a chilled truck (+2°C) for example and you also need to transport frozen goods (-18°C) than you could use insulated covers over the frozen goods so you can transport them in the chilled truck. In other words, insulated covers offer a big flexibility and cost saving in transporting of distributing temperature sensitive goods.
