Thermal blankets are blankets with a certain insulation quality which are used to insulate or protect temperature sensitive goods as pharmaceuticals and perishables which need to be transported in a certain temperature controlled environment. Thermal blankets are common used in the air cargo or air freight as a passive cooling or passive packaging system to protect the temperature of temperature sensitive goods against unwanted external temperatures and weather conditions. The used insulation quality of the thermal blanket is determined by the required temperatures and the transport conditions. The thermal blankets can be used as a wrapping foil or can be made tailor made as covers for all kind of cargo carriers as Euro or US block pallets, airplane pallets, cargo containers, etc… as used in the air freight or air cargo.

Thermal blankets can be used in a cold chain with active cooling or with passive cooling. When active cooling is used in the cold chain, CCP’s (see active cooling) will appear in the chain in which the temperature of the goods fluctuates. To decrease these fluctuations or CCP’s, thermal blankets are used to provide an extra protection. When passive cooling is used, thermal blankets are used as a passive packaging and provide a temperature protection during the total cold chain. More and more companies are implementing passive cooling systems for closing the cold chain and maintaining the required product and temperature quality.

Temax insulation is a high quality insulation material which is flexible and produced in a special composition to create a maximal heat or cold resistance resulting in a high quality thermal blanket. The Temax insulation has a very light weight and is easy to use. The Temax insulation is water resistant and leaves no condensation, even with very extreme temperatures. TEMAX® Insulation

Temax4000 (thickness 4cm) is mostly used as a single use or one-way use packaging or thermal blanket. Therefore the material proportions have been developed and produced in such a way that the base materials and needed thermal capacity per current meter, are adjusted to complement each other. The Temax4000 is also 100% recyclable so no special waste flow or waste management is needed in the disposal of the foils after usage.

The Temax4000 insulation can also be produced for multiple use thermal blankets. On the outside and inside of the insulation a strong, yet light weight material is added so it can be used for many times. The re-usable Thermo covers are also used in supermarkets where these covers are intensively used on a daily bases and where a duration of life is seen of 3 to 5 years. The multiple use thermal blankets are also tailor made.
